I am here!

I am here! I arrived in California on Wednesday around 12. I will say I rode in the tiniest plane known to man! I took a picture so I will have to send it to you. One of the Elder's on our plane ride shared the gospel. It was amazing to see the work already in action. After we landed, we headed to the church in Santa Clarita, had lunch and finally met our companions around 5.

My companion is Hermana E. from Boston. She is been on a mission for a little over a year and really knows her stuff. I am so excited to have her has my trainer. I will be with her for the next 12 weeks in training but since she goes home we could be together until June. I am excited, especially since we are white-washing an area. Which means there used to be 2 Elders covering our area but they took out the Elders and put in Sisters. So basically we got to the area on the same day and both don't know anyone, But we are learning very quickly! My first night here (within 6 hours) we went and visited a lady the previous Elders had been teaching. We committed her to baptism. I didn't understand much but I just kept feeling so strongly that she would be baptized. I could just feel how ready she was. It was amazing to be in a actual lesson, teaching someone about the gospel for the first time. I loved it.The next day we committed her daughter who is 10 to be baptized! Actually she asked before we even got to her and she is so excited. They are getting baptized next Sunday which is incredible! I know I didn't do any of the work (except for sitting there and looking good) but I am truly grateful to be here and be on the front row of this story.
The next few days we visited some other people that are waiting for baptism. One is a woman who is been waiting for 8 years. She is not married to her boyfriend because he needs to get a divorce. Can you imagine waiting that long? It is way more complicated then it sounds but when we visited her she said "if I could I would be baptized tomorrow" she has been very patient in her waiting. We made a goal with them to get things finished this year so hopefully she will be baptized by the end of this year.
The last person we visited with was another 10 year old girl who is waiting for her dad to get the priesthood so she can be baptized by him. We will meet with them again on Tuesday but she has grandparents coming in April so we have a goal to have her get baptized that week. This cute little girl went out with her mom and the missionaries one day to visit someone. The person ended up not being home so they decided to knock on a few doors. After no one being home she climbed up on the top of a bench and said so loud "everyone need cristo in their life" hugging the Book of Mormon. She is so excited to be a missionary when she grows up! I think that is just so great! I am grateful I get to see her over the next few months. I need some of her energy! haha
That is all we did this week. It is really different being in a area where we are both new. Usually at least one missionary will know the area. We are learning though! I am serving in Reseda. It is down in the valley.. I think.. I still haven't got my barrings but I love it. I brought the cold weather with me though. It is 54 degrees today. Not as warm as I imagined! I do love the people. It is amazing how quickly you can love something. I will write more next week! I better go; I love you!
