In the mission we have a few different ways of counting. One way we
count is by transfers. I think girls have 12 transfers in a mission but
I am not sure. Well I completed a WHOLE transfer. It is weird. I feel
like I just got here. I really don't know where this 6 weeks went. It is
funny how excited all the missionaries get for transfers. The best
thing I can compare it to is getting a mission call. You know when it is
coming, you could go to a whole new area or stay, you could be assigned
to a leadership position or be assigned to train. Really there are so
many options! And you never know what will happen! It is exciting. I
knew I was staying this time around since I am training so I think I
will be apart of that excitement next time around. Just you wait 6 weeks!
I should really title this email "get thee hence Satan". At the
being of this month we had 3 people in our district that were set on
getting baptized so we set goals to work harder and get a few more.
Literally the day after we set these goals everything fell apart. Satan
is working extra hard and fighting against us. I was reading in the
scriptures the other day and realized how important it is to always stay
close to the Savior. Satan is working hard to get us to be distracted.
Distracted so we don't read, we don't pray, we don't go to the temple,
etc. As I was reading I realized that he works even hard on those
that are righteous. I realized it is easy to get the people who don't
know what is right and wrong because they don't know. But those of us
that have the gospel, know what we have been commanded to do, know what
is right--he is working 100 times harder on us. I know I have heard this
several times throughout my life but it seems like I understand it more
now. My testimony of the basics grows stronger EVERYDAY. My companion
always says to me "Hermana! I am SO grateful for the gospel." I realized
what this really means. I have the gospel. I have the Book of Mormon. I
have temples. I have a prophet that guides us in these latter-days.
What a blessing. I hope that I never forget that. All of this doesn't
make us better then the next person but it reminds me that I shouldn't
be taking these things lightly. It really is amazing to me how blind and
ignorant I have been in my pre-mission. I thought I was doing good but I
am realizing I could have been doing so much better! It is okay though. I
have the atonement and a new day. I can learn these things and remember
them for when I return.
I am really excited for this transfer. My companion and I have got a
lot of people we are teaching which is really exciting. I love them
all! Every time we meet someone new I think to myself "How am I going to
keep in contact with all these people after my mission?" I am sure I
will find a way though. Haha but we are teaching a few part member
families. I realized again the importance of temples. I hope to see them
all enjoy the blessings of the temple. I can't describe the joy that
would come to see that but I know it would be AMAZING!!! We also have
some really good ideas for the singles ward on how to get more
people involved. The Bishop explained to us yesterday that a lot
of young adults like being with the family at church. Hopefully we can
get the word out about the singles ward and have more people be involved. Yes this transfer is going to be great.
We are also getting a new greenie in our district. It was a sad
loss but Elder F. got transferred and his companion will be
training someone. That makes 3 greenies in our district! The ward is
amazing though. They have been so good to the greenies. So patient as we
struggle to speak to them.
As for our investigators I have some EXCELLENT news. I think I told
you about our eternigator who is waiting for her "husband" to
get divorced so she can get married and then baptized. Well last week
we went to a ward activity and he was there. He asked why we had not
come to visit so I made an appointment. When we went there we
had planned to talk to him about something totally different. My
companion talked to him as I tried to listen. I did hear the part about divorcing his wife though. He said the word "prometa" which means
promise. I spoke and said "wait what did he say?" to my companion so in
English he said to me that he promised he would be going tomorrow to get
things ready. The next day we called him bright and early to make sure.
AND they were on there way! I am so excited for her. She has been
waiting so long to get baptized and it looks like it could really
happen!
I better go but I love you all! Thanks for all the support you give! Until next week!
