A week of knocking

Transfer day! I am happy to say I am staying another transfer in my ward. I am excited because for the last 12 weeks we have gone to this one apartment complex pretty much everyday. These kids always open the door for us so we can get in. One day last week we talked to the mother and asked if we could teach them. She said "yes" and so this transfer we will be teaching them. I hope they listen to what we have to say. They are so great! On Friday night we found them outside attempting to jump over this rope. My companion and I decided we would take some action shots of them jumping. We got some pretty good ones! I will have to add that to my list of pictures I want to send one day. I will keep you posted on them and their progress. I know the gospel could do them a world of good! They live in a very crary area. I would hate to see them get mixed up in something not good later on down the road.
This last week my companion and I decided to go knocking. We met a ton of people! One lady was from India, she had the Hindu shrine up in her house. I should have taken a picture because it was the biggest shrine I have seen so far. One of the pictures on her wall had this dust like substance on it. She told us that whenever she gets sick she mixes the dust with water and drinks it. Apparently that works. We also met a lady who couldn't speak very much english. After we were done talking to her she came back outside a little bit later. She was taking something to the manager's office. All she could say was "manager. mad." It was here way of telling us not to knock doors of the manager would get mad. If that was true I wanted to talk to the manager. We followed her to the manager's office and talk to him ourself. He was actually really nice! He couldn't tell us the ratio of how many spanish speaking people lived in the apartment complex but we found out that there weren't enough people to knock doors so we left to another building.
As a missionary you learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to knocking. For example if you watch the peek hole and the light stops shinning through then you know someone is home and looking through it to see who you are. Elder Fike taught me to smile really big and wave. I haven't tried it but I can see this working. For me I like to go straight to the doors that are open because you know the people are home and they usually will talk to you for a bit. Here, especially during the summer, A LOT of people will leave their doors open to cool the house down. That is why I love summer! You can always find someone to talk to! Anyway, Last week my companion and I decided to finish knocking this apartment complex we had started a few weeks ago. We tried the first couple of doors and found some people not answering and some not at home. Finally after a few doors I found one that was open. I walked straight up the stairs and peek my head in side. I saw this young single adult sitting at his computer. He is SOOOOOO awesome! He told us first off he didn't believe in organized religion. He knows A LOT about tons of different religions. I can't tell you all the one's that were brought up throughout our conversation. We taught him all about the restoration but you want to hear the sad part. He speaks English! It means we had to refer him to the English Elders. It makes me SO sad! I can tell you that I will for sure keep tabs on him through the Elder's I am very curious to see what happens. It works both ways though. The Elder's have found a few people that we teach in Spanish. I really hope he prays and reads the Book of Mormon. I think he will. He seems to be interested in learning about all types of religion. If I hear anything in the future I will for sure keep you posted!
I think that is it for this week. We have transfers today but we are both staying here. I am loosing my District leader and another Elder. They have both been in the same district with me since day one. My district leader is going to be a Zone leader in a zone that I would love to go to at some point during my mission so I will see them again. It is good to have change just sad to see people go.
I better go though! I will write you all soon! LOVE YOU!!!
