miracles part 2

Okay I told you I had a super sweet story to tell you last week but I didn't have enough time to write it so I saved it for this week. I am truly blessed because it didn't come any other way then a blessing from the Lord. We had zone conference two weeks ago and the following day we were SUPER excited because we had a day full of members who could come with us to our appointments. It looked like a great day! But as the day went on EVERYTHING cancelled our last hope was this investigator who lives with a cousin who is a member. We showed up to teach him on our normal day but he has been avoiding us lately and our last member present lesson cancelled. By this point we were done we had nothing for the rest of the night. We ate dinner and my companion decided to send the investigator a text saying "hello". After she sent the message she put the phone on the table and we began teaching the member. There is a missionary rule to turn your phone on silent during appointments and to not answer phones if we are in a lesson. So here is the phone sitting on the table full volume, when it starts to ring. It was closest to me so I looked at it and since it was a number not saved I handed it to my companion, you know just in case the person on the other end spoke Spanish. I didn't want to take my chances. My companion at the time was in the middle, that is right in the middle of sharing her testimony about what we just taught. She looks at the phone and picks it up. (Note to future missionaries please don't try this on your mission unless the following occurs). She heard something say "ANSWER IT" so against all politeness she answered. This is the convesation she had and I have to say that the gist of it is what happen. I was only the listener to what she said and the watcher of her face that portrayed complete shock.
Hermana Zepeda: Hola! Habla Hermana Zepeda.
Voice: Yes, hi. Is this the Sister Missionaries?
Hermana Zepeda: Yes we are. How can we help you?
Voice: Oh hi. I don't know how to do this but I want to learn more about your church.
Hermana Zepeda: (shocked because this NEVER happens) Oh okay.
Voice: I have a girlfriend who is a member and my apartment manager is a member as well and I want to take your lessons.
Hermana Zepeda: (shocked even more) Oh okay we can help you with that.
Voice: Okay. How do I do this? Do I come to you or do you come to me?
Hermana Zepeda: We come to you. What is your address? (now she is realizing that all our appointments fell through and we have nothing for the rest of the night)
Voice: (gives his address)
Hermana Zepeda: Are you free tonight? We are just finishing up an appointment and can come over after.
Voice: Yeah. I am free.
Hermana Zepeda: Okay we will be over in 20 minutes
So we finish the lesson and bike over as fast as my little legs will carry me. Which according to Hermana Zepeda it isn't very fast. haha. We find out that this 17 year old has been dating a member for the last 1 and a half years. He has gone to church with her several times and his family was taught. However they didn't progress so the missionaries stopped teaching them. He was always SUPER busy so never took the lesson and was actually never around. We taught him lesson one but he already knows about the Book of Mormon and has one he has read. As we were teaching our mouths just kept dropping. We couldn't believe this was happening. Where did this miracle come from? Well I know where it came from but why do I get to witness it? We are truly truly blessed! He even said that he has been to other churchs but doesn't like it for various reasons. He also said that on Sunday's he will come home from church with his girlfriend and not have anything to do so he will turn on BYUtv AND has even thought about going there!!!! It was funny cause when we told the Elders in our district he watches BYUtv on Sunday's after church one of them said jokingly "Why does he want to do that? Does he want to keep the Sabbath day Holy or something?" and I replied "Yes!" This 17 year old is a blessing. I don't know how all the missionaries in the wards he has attended have missed him. At the end of our lesson we realized that he has a testimony of what we teach is true so we asked him if he wants to be baptized. His reply was "Yeah that is what I was hoping. I want to get baptized!" As I tell this story I am still in shocked that all this happened! It was absolutely a great miracle. It is one of those things that you hear happening but it never really happens to you. So we set a baptismal date for a day in September. We made a return appointment and left. His mom was outside watching her youngest son swim in the pool while we taught him. We invited her to the return appointment and she came! She even said the closing prayer. It was a miracle because while we were teaching the member who is the apartment manager was also outside. She was able to talk to the mom while we talked to him. She told the hermana that "he wants to serve a mission and I don't know what that is" so the member was able to testify about the gospel. Even cooler! Was that the Hermana has a husband who doesn't come to church and one of the hesistation is she doesn't want to go to the church without her husband so this hermana was able to testify that she knows the church is true and this is why she goes.

WOW eh? How did it happen? It sometimes feels like a dream but it happened! I am so so so so so so grateful to be a part of that experience. Last Sunday the mom and the son came to church. It could be her time to accept what she has been taught before. We still haven't met the Father but we are hoping to teach him as well. I am super excited to see what happens.

I felt my first earthquake....okay okay before you get worried it was more of a slight shake. Apparently there have been a few over the weeks but I have only been able to feel the two. I told my companion to point it out to me next time so I learn what it feels like.
Let's see what else....I can't think of anything. I hope you enjoyed that grand miracle! I will for sure keep you posted. It would be great to have the whole family come to the gospel. That is what the 17 year old hoped to have happen when he met with us. He was hoping his example would help his mom and dad.

Love you all!
